The Windmill Centre has been a community centre in the heart of Hele Village since it was built in 1984. The Hele Village Community Association are the registered charity that formed in 1982 and were first given charitable status in 1988. They commissioned the building of the centre and it has gone from strength to strength ever since, including an office extension to the front.
The centre's ethos is to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Hele and surrounding areas without distinction of sex, politics, religion or other opinions by associating the Local Authorities, Voluntary Organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and provide sustainable services in the interest of social welfare, recreation and leisure-time occupation thus improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.
